The Importance of Wedding Vendor Relationships

Writer: Marcea GalindoMarcea Galindo

We recently attended the Seattle Wedding Show. In my opinion, this is the biggest and best wedding show in the PNW and we never miss it.

Having fun at The Seattle Wedding Show!

This year, it was especially fun because we saw SO many vendors that we knew. A perk of being a "veteran" in the business (can't believe we have been doing this long enough to say that!) is that we have developed great relationships with vendors over the years. Some vendors we have worked with one time and a connection is made, some we have worked with multiple times over the years and trust has been built.

When I tell potential clients that part of what they are paying for is access to my preferred vendor list, they probably don't quite understand the value of industry connections. A vendor doesn't make my list unless they have impressed me. To impress me, their communication needs to be prompt, they need to be excellent at their craft, they need to be kind and personable, open to compromise and suggestions, and did I mention communication? It's so huge! Once I've worked with a vendor a few times, our relationship is taken to the "next level" and they might respond to my inquiry a little faster. Familiarity is always a perk!

I, too, want to be all of those things I mentioned above and I hope that when other vendors are asked for wedding planner referrals, my name comes up. I promise to be kind and return emails promptly!

I'm looking forward to see what this season brings with my vendor friends. We are doing a lot of business with old favorites, and a few new ones as well.

So next year when we attend wedding shows, our friends will have multiplied. Can't wait!
