How To Create a Wedding That Feels Like You

A beautiful wedding can have all the right elements: gorgeous florals, beautiful linens, a stunning venue. But what makes it memorable is when you can feel the couple in the details.

One of our favorite examples was this beautiful celebration at the Woodmark Hotel on Lake Washington. The couple wanted a wedding that blended their Chinese heritage with a classic Western celebration, and rather than treating their cultures as separate elements, we looked for thoughtful ways to weave their story throughout the day.

At each place setting, guests found a small silk sachet filled with lavender, made from beautiful Chinese fabric. It was an elegant little detail, but one that carried meaning and gave guests something personal to take home.

Their welcome sign featured images from the couple’s Chinese wedding photo shoot, giving guests an immediate glimpse into another part of their story.

And later in the evening, the food became another opportunity to bring their cultures and personalities into the celebration. Instead of a traditional late-night snack, guests enjoyed Asian-inspired ramen, banh mi, and an Asian snack mix, a fun and unexpected end to the evening.

None of these details had to be elaborate to make an impact. They simply had to be intentional.

That’s the difference between choosing wedding décor and designing a wedding. When the details are thoughtfully connected to who you are, where you come from, and what you love, the result is a celebration that could belong to no one else.

Your wedding should be beautiful. But more importantly, it should feel like yours.
